Consists chiefly of Keilty's plays, and materials relating to his creation of a new language which he called "Prashad". A
small amount of correspondence concerns attempts at publication by both Keilty and his estate, along with several autobiographical
sketches and short writings. Includes 1 published poem, and 2 published articles by Keilty from his career as a city planner.
The bulk of Keilty's writings in English consist of short plays, mostly typescript originals or carbons, that are undated.
These include "The Bodhisattva," "The brothers from Boppard," "Catherine," "The changes," "Don Juan on the Potrero," "Duse,"
"The family," "Five scenes for the theatre called Venusberg," "The games," "Genji and Yugao," "Honest men," "Integrity," "Montsalvat,"
"The roadhouse," "Salome a la mode," "The way in," "Ways of spending money," "Foreign visitor," "Faces," and "Way (path)."
The remainder of the collection relates to Keilty's development of Prashad and consists of a dictionary in both list and card
file formats, rules and lessons for use, and Keilty's translations and own writings about the people of Prashad. These are
either photocopied typescripts or original typescripts and manuscripts, and include his "Prashad papers, I-III, " an untitled
work resembling a journal, 1971-1977, and ca. 12 additional titles, including some songs in Prashad.

James Keilty, noted San Francisco city planner from 1950 to 1964, was a member of the first class to graduate from the Dept.
of City and Regional Planning at the University of California, Berkeley. He was also a dramatist and director of plays in
San Francisco in the 1950s and 1960s, and spent his last years creating a new language and history for a place he called "Prashad."
Keilty died from lung cancer in 1978, at the age of 56.
